DOZENS of youngsters on Teesside are returning to school early.
More than 130 children have enrolled in a summer school at Cromwell Road School, South Bank.
The fourth annual summer school runs throughout the penultimate week of the school holidays. It offers maths, English and information communications technology in the mornings while afternoons are set aside for canoeing, yoga, soccer coaching, trips out and a disco.
Headteacher Brenda Urwin, said: "This is a very worthwhile event and it is only with the support of the Teesside Power Fund that we've been able to finance all the fun activities."
The fund, which benefits the nine wards which surround the ICI Wilton site, gave a £1,010 grant to Ms Urwin for the project after she applied to the Cleveland Community Foundation.
Foundation grants officer Ian Scrutton, who manages the the fund, said: "We only got the request through on Friday but it fits the criteria and we were delighted to be able to fast-track it for the summer school."
