BRADLEY'S jewellers has put up the glittering prize of a £1,500 cut diamond pendant for the winner of the Best Dressed Lady Racegoer competition on Ladies Day at Thursday's Ebor meeting at York racecourse.
Bradley's, a family firm with stores in Harrogate, Northallerton, York, Stokesley and Yarm, are first-time sponsors of the competition.
FIRST SHOW: Members of Richmond Operatic Society will be putting on their first show at the town's newly-restored and extended Georgian Theatre from Wednesday to Saturday. Tickets for The Good Companions are priced from £3 to £7 and are available from the box office on (01748) 825252.
LOOKING BACK: Rosa Mundi, a re-enactment group, will be giving a demonstration of what life was like in Tudor times at the Moors Centre, Danby, over the Bank Holiday weekend.
ANTIQUES GALORE: An antiques and collectors fair will be held at the Middleham Key Centre on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.
FUNDS DRIVE: The Bedale branch of the Skipton Building Society will be at the Wensleydale Show on Saturday raising money for Age Concern.
NEW FACE: Steve Waddington has been appointed as the new assistant housing director in York. The post has been vacant since last November.
ROAD CLOSURE: Crichton Avenue in York is to be closed between Wigginton Road and Burton Lane from Sunday until Friday to allow a road bridge over a railway line to be refurbished.
