A SPONSORED walk has raised hundreds of pounds for a village church.
Judy Evans and her husband Peter raised £475 for St Edmund's Church, Sedgefield, with their walk through Farndale.
The village branch of Barclay's Bank, where Mrs Evans works as a cashier, agreed to match the sum, making a total of £950.
Mrs Evans has been organising sponsored walks for several years, raising thousands of pounds for the parish churches of St Edmund's and St Catherine's, Fishburn Band and other local groups.
Her next big effort will be over the bank holiday weekend, when she will be joined by her husband to complete the Bilsdale circuit, with a few more miles added on, for a 35-mile overnight hike.
The walk will start at midnight on Saturday, August 23, and end at Sunday tea-time. It will raise funds for St Catherine's Church.
