Bliss, the premature baby charity, has donated a pulse oximeter machine to the special care baby unit at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
The machine detects the amount of oxygen carried around the body in the red blood cells. Too much oxygen can cause blindness in premature babies.

BONNY BABY: Five-and-a-half-month-old Abigail Leonard has won the Sunshine Smile Baby Competition at Billingham's Asda store. Her mother, Tracy, received £50 in Asda gift vouchers.

CONCERT DATE: Mike Lockey and Friends will be in concert at Saltburn bandstand on Monday, from 2.30pm to 4pm. In the event of bad weather, a concert planned for Saturday will be held in the Community Theatre.
LADIES EVENING: Redcar races is holding a ladies evening on Saturday. Gates open at 3.30pm and racing will start at 5.35pm. Entertainment for children will also be provided.
CHARITY HELP: People in Middlesbrough contributed £19,200 to Christian Aid in house-to-house collections in May.
