PEOPLE can gain reduced admission to Hartlepool's Historic Quay if they have a ticket for the film Pirates of the Caribbean from the town's Warner Village Cinema.

The offer, which runs until Sunday, September 7, means adults and children will be able to get in for £2.20, instead of the usual charges of £5.50 and £2.75 respectively.

It coincides with the quay, a replica Napoleanic-era seaport, being named a Quality Assured Visitor Attraction by the English Tourism Council for the third year in a row.

Last year the quay was also named as Large Visitor Attraction of the Year by the Northumbria Tourist Board, while The Good Britain Guide said it was Living Museum of the Year.

Claire Munroe, Hartlepool Arts and Museums Service marketing officer, said: "We are delighted to add this latest accolade to the string of awards that the quay has won and it seems fitting that local people should have the chance to share in our success."

The quay is open every day from 10am to 5pm.
