FOUR teenagers have been selected by staff at a high school to take on the role of prefects from September.
The two boys and two girls were elected by staff at Bedale High School because of their hard work, enthusiasm, sport and extra-curricular responsibilities.
Fourteen-year-old Jessica Stout, the youngest of the four, has been nominated as head girl, having already been a member of the Upper School Council for two years. A keen dancer from the town, Jessica has performed with the Bedale Senior Youth Group.
Jeremy Wyatt, 15, from Hunton, will work alongside Jessica in his role as head boy.
Martyn Coombs, head of PE at the school, said Jeremy has a passion for sport.
"He has represented the Hambleton and Richmondshire area at athletics, badminton, rugby union and football," he said.
"He is also a talented sailor and spent last Christmas in Australia with Bedale Venture Scouts sailing offshore at Sydney."
The deputy head roles have been given to Sarah Stephens, from Bedale and Tom Young, from Crakehall, who are both 15.
Sarah is also a member of the Upper School Council and plays violin with the North Yorkshire County Youth Orchestra and Tom is a keen rugby player, captaining the Hambleton and Richmondshire area under-15s team.
