TWO prisoners were given longer sentences yesterday for their parts in a large-scale disturbance at a jail, in which two prison officers were injured.

Shane Taylor, 22, and Robert Foley, 23, both of County Durham, were found guilty of violent disorder at Holme House Prison, Stockton last year when officers were pelted with pool balls.

Judge David Bryant told them at Teesside Crown Court: "In my view you are both dangerous men."

Taylor, of Cummings Square, Wingate, was sentenced to four years in jail, which he must serve after he has completed the four-year and nine-month sentence he is already serving.

He was also found guilty of wounding prison officer Colin Brown with intent to do him grievous bodily harm but was cleared of an actual bodily harm assault on another officer.

Foley, of Church Street, Seaham, was sentenced to two years' consecutive to the four years he is serving.

A third prisoner, Dean Temple, 23, of Midlothian Road, Hartlepool, was found not guilty last week of violent disorder.

Sixty prisoners were involved in the disturbance on July 18 last year, which was sparked off when Taylor was not allowed to exercise in the gym because it was full.
