A FORMER television sound engineer yesterday unveiled his solution to the problem of drink-driving.
John Orr, 28, launched the business in Newcastle.
ScooterCabbies will arrive on scooters which can be folded up and placed in the boot of the customer's car. They will then drive the customer home.
The concept came from the US and is already operating in London and Glasgow.
The idea has come under fire from Newcastle MP Jim Cousins, who warned it would encourage binge drinking.
However, the business venture has the backing of emergency services
InBiz, a national business support organisation that helps people into self-employment, helped Mr Orr start the business.
