POLICE in North Yorkshire will be welcoming visitors to their headquarters next month.
As part of the National Heritage Open Days initiative, Newby Wiske Hall and its grounds will be open on September 13 and 14, from 10am to 4pm.
On the Saturday there will also be a variety of craft stalls, dancing displays, a nature trail and a visit from the Great North Air Ambulance. There will also be lunches, cream teas and light refreshments.
Newby Wiske Hall is a Grade II-listed manor house build in 1684 by William Reveley. It was owned in the 19th Century by the Rutson family, who were well known local benefactors. It became a police training school in 1954 and North Yorkshire Police headquarters in 1976.
