ABOUT 1,000 youngsters yesterday celebrated a summer of fun provided by a town's playschemes.
They took part in the traditional end-of-scheme parade in Middlesbrough.
Playscheme co-ordinator Sally Danks said: "All the playschemes have emphasised the importance of keeping fit and healthy during their activities.
"The youngsters have made costumes based round these themes so we were able to have a really colourful display."
Middlesbrough Council chairman Councillor Peter Porley saw the parade off from the Bottle of Notes sculpture at The Boulevard.
Children paraded through the Hill Street Centre and the Cleveland Centre, ending at the Clairville Stadium for games including a fitness and dance session.
