TWINS Jessica and Alexandra Eddie got their first taste of rowing when they were still at primary school.
A decade on, and the sisters are not only considered among the most promising young rowers in the country, but are also hotly tipped to represent Great Britain in the 2008 Olympics.
To add to their earlier successes, the 18-year-olds have together won gold medals on consecutive days at the National Schools' rowing championships at Nottingham.
Former pupils at Belmont Primary School and St Leonard's School in Durham City, the girls soon showed their rowing skills when they joined Durham Amateur Rowing Club.
This year, the twins have been selected for the Great Britain Under-23 squad.
Jessica has also been chosen for the Under-23 World Regatta in Belgrade, and will also be representing Great Britain in Pittsburgh, US, in October.
The girls, who live with their mother, Nora, father, Stewart, and sister, Kate, are hoping to attend London universities where they plan to continue their rowing.
