A MAN is recovering after being shot during an attack in a residential street.
The attack happened at about 1.20pm on Tuesday, in Borrowdale Street, Hetton-le-Hole, on Wearside.
An ambulance was called and paramedics arrived to find a man with gunshot wounds to the arm, lying in the street.
He was taken to hospital where his condition was yesterday described as stable.
Police were not releasing any further details of the man's identity, or which hospital he is being treated at.
A second man sustained a minor injury in the incident but did not require hospital treatment.
Officers from Northumbria Police sealed off the area as officers began the hunt for the gunman.
Detectives are particularly keen to trace a blue saloon car that was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
