TWO heroin dealers jailed as part of a police clampdown won cuts in their jail terms yesterday.
Susan Graham, of Park View Gardens, Ryton, Newcastle, and James Teasdale of Severn Street, Chopwell, near Newcastle, were both sentenced in February at Newcastle Crown Court.
Graham, 32, had pleaded guilty to supplying drugs and was jailed for four years, while Teasdale, 25, admitted conspiracy to supply and received five years and three months.
Yesterday, two judges at London's Court of Appeal cut their sentences after hearing they were low-level dealers.
Mr Justice Collins, sitting with Mr Justice Mitchell, reduced mother-of-two Graham's sentence to three years and cut Teasdale's to four years and six months.
The judge said both were now drug-free and had only turned to dealing because of pressure from third parties.
The court heard that Graham was driven to dealing by her partner, and when she was sent to prison, she was separated from her children, aged two and one.
The court was also told Graham was of previous good character, and had undertaken a number of courses while in prison.
Teasdale took up drug-dealing in order to pay off debts, the court heard.
The pair were both arrested last year as part of Newcastle police's Operation Infection to reduce heroin dealing.
