Bulls Head 1 v 12 South Bank United: South Bank United got off to a flying start when they opened their Stokesley League campaign with a crushing 12-1 defeat of Bulls Head.
United showed their intent as early as the second minute when Anthony Gregory crashed the ball against the upright but they had to wait till the tenth before John Webster's cross was fired home by Peter Renton.
Minutes later, Renton turned provider for Terry McGloughlin to head home United's second but it was a hat trick in the space of fifteen minutes from Gregory that put United totally in control.
Sloppy defending allowed the Bull's to pull one back on the half hour but goals from Truscott and Gregory before the break gave United a commanding 7-1 lead at the break.
The second half continued in much the same vein as the first with Adam Hugill the first to find the net before Truscott, Webster, McGloughlin and Cousans all added their names to the scoresheet.
Coulby Newham 2 v 6 Kings Head
Two first half goals from Paul Round set the King's Head on their way to victory away to Coulby Newham.
With Steve Smith adding a third before the break, the visitors looked to be coasting but goals from Matty Simmonds and Richard May brought Coulby back into contention.
Matty Mathewman halted the Coulby comeback when he scored to restore the King's Head two goal advantage and when debutant Mark Hallett curled one in direct from a corner, the visitors had the three points in the bag. All that remained to complete a fine performance was Round wrapping the game up with a goal to complete his hat trick.
Ennis Square 2 v 2 Linx Hemlington
New boys Linx Hemlington picked up their first point with a battling second half comeback after trailing 2-0 at the break.
Lee Johnson gave Ennis the lead on 20 minutes when he scrambled the ball home following a Phil Bellerby throw in and ten minutes later it was Bellerby who was on the mark heading home following an excellent run from Paul Jones.
The Linx revival started ten minutes into the second half when a defensive clearance rebounded back into the Ennis goal.
There was little between the sides in the second with both teams going close but five minutes from time, Linx levelled with a conversion from the penalty spot.
Middlesbrough Post Office 3 v 2 Woodmans Arms
Goals from John Leach (2) and a penalty strike from David Mills werejust enough for the Post Office to win their opening league fixture against the Woodman's Arms.
The Post Office led two nil at the break and although Geoff Maloney pulled one back when he met a centre at the far post, a breakaway from Leach kept the Post Office on top. Late in the game, Maloney scored a second from the penalty spot to give the Woodmans hope of taking at least a point from the game but a resilient Post Office rearguard held firm to the final whistle.
PJS 1 v 2 Stokesley
Andy Fixter wasted no time getting on the goal trail as PJS took an early lead at home to Stokesley.
However, the visit levelled the scoring through Lawrence Ndlovu and took all three points when Kevin Wilson hit a late winner.
St. Marys College OB 0 v 0
Thornaby Mandale
Last season's champions Thornaby Mandale were held to a goalless draw by the College in a hard fought contest dominated by the both midfields.
Having lifted the Harry Moore Trophy a week earlier when they beat Middlesbrough Post Office in extra time, Mandale were looking to get their defence of the league title off to a good start.
However, a man of the match performance from Craig Sillick together with excellent games from defender Stephen Keenan and keeper Thomas Straker saw the College take a deserved share of the spoils.
