THE Margrove Heritage Centre near Guisborough is being invaded on Sunday, and Bank Holiday Monday.

The popular medieval re-enactment group Anmod Dracan will be camping, cooking fighting, talking and demonstrating medieval crafts and skills. These will involve pewter casting, leather working, wood turning, spinning and weaving on both days from 10am to 5pm. The encampment activities support the Centre's Castles exhibition, which is on display in the centre from Wednesday to Sunday, including the bank holiday.

ANNUAL MEETING: Redcar's Grenfell Club for children and adults with learning difficulties will hold its annual meeting on September 4. It will take place at the club in the town's Ridley Street, at 7.15pm. For details call the centre on (01642) 471747.

TOP ADVICE: Visitors to Stranton Nursery, Hartlepool, will be able to pick up advice on Saturday on how to protect their homes against burglars. PC Steve Davies, burglary reduction officer, and Colin Hopkins, formerly Hartlepool's crime prevention officer, will be at the nursery in Tanfield Road from 10am to 12pm. They will be offering advice and information, covering aspects of home security.

NEW HOME: A £1.4m elderly care home in Stockton is to hold an open day tomorrow. Helen McArdle Care has built Piper Court, a 60-bedroomed care home, next to the University Hospital of North Tees, Middlesbrough, and has invited visitors to take a look around between 10.30am and 3.30pm.
