A PUB will hold a charity event this weekend to boost the efforts of a doctor who is raising money to improve the lives of young diabetics.
The Ash Tree, in Carr Lane, Spennymoor, will hold an auction and raffle from 6pm on Sunday to support paediatric consultant Dr Bill Lamb, who is raising funds to help patients in Bishop Auckland and Darlington.
He wants to provide insulin pumps, which give insulin continuously under the skin, reducing the need for injections, to as many children as possible.
Landlady Faye Rowcroft and pub regulars are backing his campaign because local teenager, 13-year-old Liam Richardson, is treated for diabetes by Dr Lamb.
Liam's father Bill said: "Dr Lamb is such a wonderful man he has been a great help to our family and it is an important campaign, we wanted to help."
