The new season got underway with the three new teams in Division Three all getting their first points on the board.

Pride of place going to MN All Stars who hit nine goals in their first league game against The Highland Laddie. Darren Thompson opened the scoring before Steve Howden completed a first half hat-trick and with further goals coming from Martin Sturgeon, Tom Osbourne, John Pearson and Paul Strickland penalty. Gary Connell pulled one back for the Laddie before Strickland added his second after the break.

Goodfellas played a 2-2 draw away at Haughton, Mark Corry and Karl Christie finding the net, with Karl Lockwood and Paul Cooper giving the home team a share of the points.

The Cricketers shared four goals with new boys St. Augustines. John Dean and Phil Moore on target for the Cricketers with Paul Stanton and Michael Kipling replying.

Axa Insurance collected three points with a 2-0 away at the Fighting Cocks, a goal in each half from Chris Baines and Dave Aiken was enough to secure the win.

Royal Oak went into the new season looking a little rusty against a Drinkfield team who took full advantage as Carl Batty hit a vicious strike from 25 yards to give the home keeper no chance and the visitors a 1-0 lead, the visitors built on the their lead and as Batty broke from midfield to put the ball past the Oaks' keeper Preston Slade to double their lead. As the game progressed the central midfield pairing of Timmins and Roach took control of the game for the home side only some good work in the Drinkfield goal by Paul Holliday kept the score at 2-0 after the first 45 minutes. The second half was all about man of the match Andy Laing first a fine free kick beating both the Drinkfield wall and the keeper got the Oak back into the game, then a ferocious left foot volley from Laing gave him his second goal and got the Oak back on level terms. Despite constant pressure from the Oak, Drinkfield defended well to take a share of the points.

Newton Cap recorded a 2-1 win over The Falchion in the division's only other game.

In the top division, newly promoted Killinghall Arms got off to a fine start with a 4-2 home win over Hurworth Albion, two goals from Danny Fleary and one a piece from Kevin Ashton and Philip Reynolds proved too much for the visitors who replied with goals from Neil Bell and Dave Walker.

In the game of the division Nestfield Club took on Spaire RA, a strong Nestfield side proved too much for the visitors, recording a 6-3 victory, with both sides playing some excellent football. Nestfield took the lead when Chris Robinson latched on to ball after some great link-up play.

Adi Weston got the second goal of the game and his first in a superb hat-trick, Ryan Ward put the home side 3-0 before the break with a brilliant solo goal which saw him pick the ball up from well in side his own half, taking the Spaire defence before finding the net. Second half saw Nestfield carrying on the excellent play and another goal followed from Rod Brown. Spaire would not lie down and fought back with goals from Dean Lawson and couple from Darren Koakes, but it was not enough and Nestfield took all three points.

Shuttle and Loom took on Newton Aycliffe Sports Club, but a goal from Terry Greenstreet for the home side was the only consolation as the Sports Club took all the points with a 4-1 win.

In Division Two the favourites for the title Peppers Draughting Services were made to work for the points by Peacocks Pub Co. With both teams starting well and playing fast flowing end to end football, the first 45 minutes ended goalless. The second half was a different story PDS scored within a minute of the kick off and then went on to dominate the game and goals from Michael Carter, Gary Barnes and Jamie Bowen gave the impressive PDS team a 3-0 win.

Cleveland Bridge got off to a fine start with 4-1 victory over Berlins. The Bridge stormed into a 4-0 lead before the interval, thanks to a double from Stu Hardy and Trenton Hewitt, they were even able to miss a penalty in a half that only had one team in it.

The second half saw Berlins battle back and Patterson converted his spot kick but that was as good as it got and Cleveland Bridge ran out winners.

Copper Beech DCS took on FRA Mowden who proved too strong for the home side and ran out deserved winners Stephen Thompson opened the scoring but Kevin Myers levelled for the home side, then two goals, one either side of the break by Bestford sent the visitors home with the points.

Smurfit went down 2-0 at home to newly promoted Hole in the Wall with John Hughes' double strike enough to secure the points.
