Last season's Premiership champions started their campaign in style with a 6-2 win at Pelton Roab. Hetton Lyons Cricket Club played some very attractive football in the 6-2 win.

Steve Flockett scored twice but was still on the loosing side as Sedgefield crashed to a 5-2 defeat at the North Biddick. Top man for the Biddick was Lee Cosgrove hitting four along with a Chris Holtan penalty.
A goal each for Gavin Mudd and Chris Baxter gave Brandon United a 2-1 home win over Fishburn wmc, Spennymoor Quinns were 3-1 winners at Sacriston wmc thanks to strikes from Steve Jackson (2) and Steve Quinn. Sherburn Lambton Arms travelled to Houghton Glendale for the first time these two teams have met since the Glendale won the County Cup semi-final last season. This time Lambton were the victors winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Dean Clough and Tony Simpson. A hat-trick from Andy Colledge plus a strike each from Paul Knight and Dave Hall gave Burnmoor Cricket Club a 5-0 home win over the Garden Farm.
In the First Division top marksman Dave Hewson hit one along with Micky Shields to give Ouston Red Lion a 2-0 win over Hetton New Inn.
Durham City wmc continue to improve every week with a sound beating of Belmont Sportsmans 5-2, Paul Richardson, Andrew Bell, Richard Johnson, Keith Gargett and Alan Humble the marksmen. Sunderland Lakeside travelled to Coxhoe wmc and John Ross's side returned home happy after winning 2-0, Mark Naile and Paul Shergold scoring.
In the Second Division Washington Dunlop were 3-2 winners at Houghton Mill All Stars, Mark Kirtley, Dave Kirtley and Mark Pinder on target. A hat-trick from Juan Dominguez gave the Jovial Monk a 3-1 home win over the Hare and Greyhound. Langley Park wmc and visitors Newton Aycliffe wmc shared the points in the 2-2 draw, Jon Stark (2) for Langley and Billy Swinburn and Dion Riatt for Aycliffe. A brace from Dave Edwards plus one from John West was enough to give Gilesgate Moor Hotel a hard fought 3-2 win at Kelloe wmc.
In the Third Division Durham Coach & Eight came from behind twice to earn a well earned share of the points with Washington Arms, David Lyall's opening goal for the Arms was cancelled out when Michael Atkinson latched onto a loose ball to level the scores, with the Coach & Eight pressing for a second the Arms broke quickly to regain the lead with a well worked Neil Sybenga goal. In the dying moments of the game James Oates snatched the well deserved equaliser. Two goals from Paul McVittie gave Belmont Wmc a 2-1 win away at Bearpark wmc. Two each for Stuart Dodds and Paul Proud gave Birtley William a 4-3 home win over Ushaw Moor Cricket Club.
In the Fourth Division Lumley Snooker Club were 3-1 winners at Birtley Coach and Horses, John Lines, Peter Birelson and Adam Nesbitt scoring. Pot & Glass started their league campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Biddick Inn. After a even first half Pot & Glass took control and scored their first with a well worked move finished by Neil Petch. The second was scored from the penalty spot by David Alderson after a Biddick defender handled the ball from a Dave Alderson free-kick. Langley Park Sports and Social crashed to a heavy 6-1 defeat at Chester Horners, Lee Slater grabbing a hat-trick, Dave Sawyer (2) and Dave Bernstone. A hat-trick from Paul Anderson gave the Glendenning Arms a 3-2 win over new boys West Rainton Greyhound.
