Round 12 of the BTRDA British Autotest Championship took place in Hartlepool at the weekend with 30 competitors taking part.
Hundreds of spectators turned out to watch 14 demanding tests, laid out by Hartlepool & District Motor club at the Middleton Grange shopping centre car park.
The winner was Paul Swift of Darlington, who said: "This was our first autotest all year as we have been competing in the Peugeot 206 cup.
"It took a little time to get back into the swing of things. At lunch time we were lying second overall behind Stephen Wild, but set fastest time on the last eight tests to win by 12 seconds.
"We are looking at the possibility of doing further events in the championship in a bid to secure a place on the England team for the Ken Wharten International in October."
Results: 1st Paul Swift (Mini Special) Darlington; 2nd Stephen Wild (ABS Freestyle) Chester +12.0; 3rd Malcolm Livingstone (Lotus 7) Shropshire +27.0; 4th Duncan Wild (ABS Freestyle) Chester +60.0; 5th Dave Cook (Alpha Buggy) Maidstone +65.0.
The next event at the Middleton Grange is on September 21 which will be a round of the ANECCC.
