PLANS to grant a public entertainment licence to an Eaglescliffe hotel have been met with opposition from residents.
Stockton Borough Council's licensing committee will discuss the plans for the Parkmore Hotel on Tuesday.
Brian Reed, from the hotel, has applied for a licence for the Three Rivers Suite and Reeds Restaurant, for Monday to Saturday, 7.30pm to 12am, and Sunday, 7.30pm to 11.30pm.
Neighbours are concerned that, if the licence is granted, noise from the building will increase with more people coming and going at later times, they also feel it would lead to traffic and parking problems.
The hotel is situated in the middle of a residential area and residents fear it would lead to problems with children trying to sleep.
Mr Reed said that, although he has applied for a full annual licence, he is only seeking approval for use during December 2003 to January 2004 to cater for Christmas and New Year parties, and he only envisages about 15 events.
He also said because of the concern of local residents he is more than happy for the committee to consider the application as an occasional licence for the period.
