Whitby Fishermen v Lingdale Tavern: A good game of football was played in front of a group of good natured vocal travelling support on the showfield.

In ideal conditions, Lingdale were the first team to settle with some good linking play through midfield by Ward, allowing the dangerous Breckon's to go close on a number of occasions. Fishermen also went close, wood should have converted a number of chances.

Some confident keeping by Kilpatrick, making his debut, kept the score at 0-0, however a momentary lapse by Fishermen's midfield allowed a good passage of play to result in a goal from Ward, giving Lingdale the advantage at the break.

Fishermen came out in the second half with much more purpose and after a couple of substitutions and position changes they took the game to Tavern. Great work by Walker, Winspear, Swales and Maxwell resulted in a number of chances for Whitby and it came as no surprise when Stabler hit a spectacular half volley to equalise.

Whitby were still playing the better football, however the experience in the Tavern side began to show as they began to find the hard working Breckon with long balls. With ten minutes to go, one such ball found Breckon, who took on a Whitby defender in the box, the resulting tackle leading to a disputed penalty. Breckon converted well to make it 2-1.
