Teenage racer Edwin Jowsey of Whitby drove the Lotus F3 at Silverstone on Saturday in warm and sunny conditions.
The meeting was for points and there were 22 cars entered. Edwin's main opposition was the driver who won the series last year and the year before.
Although this driver has a Lotus type 27, which is a later manufactured car, Edwin (pictured) got the fastest practise time for qualifying on Saturday morning at approximately 11am and gained pole position for the race at 3pm.
Edwin, who attends school at Robin Hoods Bay, drove from start to finish holding the lead. He was very relaxed and was not really pushed. He gained a lap time of 1:04 which is the fastest time this type of car has ever gained at that circuit. The previous fastest time last year was 1:07 gained by the winner of the series.
Edwin took the laurel wreath and gained maximum ten points. He is now leading this series and this was his eighth win out of eight outings in this car.
Next week Edwin will be racing in the Lotus F3 Bragham F2 and also an F5000/F1. Practising will take place all day Saturday with the F2 and F3 racing on Sunday and the F5000/F1 races on Monday.
