GOLFERS are invited to tee off at an end-of-summer golf tournament as part of a regional appeal for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The charity is trying to raise £600,000 to transform its support services for cancer patients and their families in County Durham.
The event will be held on September 12 at Brancepeth Castle Golf Club.
The course, near Durham, is regarded as one of the most celebrated and picturesque courses in the North-East.
Caroline Peacock, fundraiser with the Macmillan County Durham appeal, said: "We want to hear from teams of four, all gentlemen, all ladies or mixed.
"Pairs are also very welcome as we can match them with other pairs of similar ability."
The handicap limit is 20 for men and 30 for women, and certificates will be required.
"The tournament will be played to Stableford rules, where the best three scores count on each hole," said Mrs Peacock.
"To add a little additional fun to the occasion we hope to offer a 'double your money' opportunity on the fifth and £5 additional strokes on the ninth," she added. Prizes will be awarded at 8.30pm.
The entry fee for each team is £120 - £30 per person - and includes a buffet meal.
"The cost of entry is what it would normally be just to play at Brancepeth, but on this occasion players will get a buffet meal as well, so it is a really good deal," said Mrs Peacock.
For an entry form ring the Macmillan appeal office on 0191 378 1188. Places are limited.
