Sedgefield Village will hold a farmers' market on the second Sunday of each month starting on September 14.
The markets will take place on the green in front of the Hope Inn, from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
CARNIVAL DAY: West Auckland Carnival will start at 12.45pm on Monday with a parade, fancy dress competitions, tug of war, five-a-side football, quoits, Joshua the Dancing Dog, children's line dancing and a duck race by the river.
GUIDED WALK: Local historian George Flynn will lead a walk through Darlington's West Cemetery on Monday. To take part meet at the cemetery gates at 2pm. The walk costs £2 for adults, £1 concessions.
CHARITY RAFFLE: A mountain bike will be raffled at the Pets at Home store, in Yarm Road, Darlington, on Monday. The raffle is in aid of Dogs for the Disabled. Tickets are available from the store.
Police praise: Darlington police have praised youngsters in the town after a trouble-free night on Thursday. Officers had been prepared to deal with potential under-age drinking problems in the town, following the publication of GCSE results, but no cases were reported.
COACH TRIP: The Friends of Senior Citizens charity has organised a day trip to Kelso, Scotland, on Friday, September 5, leaving at 8am. FASHION SHOW: A fashion show at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, in aid of the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland, will be held on Wednesday, September 10, at 7.30pm, not Friday, September 12, as previously stated. For tickets and details call (01388) 603003.
CHRISTIAN AID: The charity Christian Aid has a bric-a-brac stall on Bishop Auckland Market next Saturday, from 9.30am.
GRANGE HOTEL: The Grange Hotel, in Southend Avenue, Darlington, has applied for listed building consent to build a 15-bedroom extension, and a replacement function suite. Darlington Borough Council will consider the application.
STABLES FIRE: Firefighters from High Handenhold and Consett were called to a blaze in two stables on allotments in Eden Terrace, Oxhill, near Stanley, at about 5.15pm on Thursday.
VALLEY WALK: A six-mile walk with historian Chris Mills around the Gaunless Valley will be held on Sunday. The walk will leave Woodland Village Hall at 10.30am. It costs £2 for adults and £1 for children and people over 60. For details call 0191-383 4144.
