A MAN was given oxygen after Cleveland Fire Brigade was called to a shop blaze in Redcar yesterday.

A fire in a heating unit at the Room 64 shop, in Station Road, ignited a partition wall causing fire and smoke damage to the shop and smoke damage to the upstairs flat. Fire crews found the man in the back yard of the property suffering from smoke inhalation. He was given oxygen but did not require hospital treatment.

CAR CRASH: A motorist escaped injury after his car crashed into road barriers yesterday. The car collided with the safety barriers near a pedestrian crossing in Yarm Lane, Stockton in the early hours. Firefighters from Stockton arrived at about 1.50am to find that the driver, in his 20s, was already out of his car and being helped by passers-by.

HARBOUR FETE: Two days of family fun are on offer at the Hartlepool Lifeboat's harbour fete tomorrow and Monday. There will be waterski and jetski demonstrations, theatre and music performances, vintage bikes, and birdman, raft race and greasy pole competitions. The fun starts at 1pm each day at Jackson's Wharf, near the marina, and continues until 5pm.

CHARITY CONCERT: The Free from Pain charity, presents the Klack, a mix of soul, blues and rock 'n' roll at The Ladle, Middlesbrough, on Friday, October 3.
