CHAMPAGNE and classical music at one of the North's most magnificent buildings should entice people of all tastes to a unique concert.

In a first of its kind, York Minster and the York Festival of Food and Drink are joining forces to present Champagne and the Classics, in aid of child workers in Bosnia.

Hosted by International Service, the concert will feature the Dante Quartet orchestral group performing with a Latin American group.

Starting at 7pm in the quire of the minster, the concert offers guests a chance to contrast the timeless quality of the classics with the atmospheric harmonies of the South American continent.

Tickets are available for £10, or £8 for concessions, and include a free glass of champagne or orange juice, which will be served from the Chapter House during the interval.

For tickets, call the York office of International Service on (01904) 647799, or the National Centre for Early Music on (01904) 658388.
