START OVER (6.35) has the speed to be the star of the show at Redcar's final evening meeting of the summer, writes Colin Woods.

Some would say the four-year-old has reached his peak for the season having shifted steadily up the ratings as a result of victories at Hamilton and Nottingham in July, but I'm not so sure that is the case.

As usual, it's all a matter of sizing up the pros and cons of the situation and for my money Start Over's most recent run, when chasing home Marinas Charm at Hamilton, was a lifetime-best effort.

In the light of subsequent events, defeat at the hands of Marinas Charm turned out to be a near-heroic performance since the that filly then slayed her rivals in a far hotter contest at Windsor last Monday.

Start Over loves to bowl along in front and with no other obvious pacemakers in the line up for the Sky Bet Vegas Handicap he might get a "soft lead".

If this does turn out to be the scenario, expect jockey John Carroll to cruise along in front early doors, before kicking in the turbo and leaving his field for dead over the final couple of furlongs.

My other suggestion for trying to top up the weekend spending money is a small each-way investment on Parker (6.05) in a dash for the cash in the six-furlong Sky Bet Classified Stakes.

Brynn Palling's gelding has been labelled a bit of thief over the past couple of years due to his tendency to save "a bit for himself".

It may well be true, however Parker has dropped to such a favourable mark that sooner or later he's going to hit the target even though the throttle is only three-quarters down.
