A COMPANY specialising in environmental management is helping tourist destinations cope with the waste that visitors generate.
EMS Europe, of Sunderland, has forged links with firms in Sri Lanka and Mauritius. It has also been invited to give a presentation to the Icelandic government.
Kym Norman, managing director, said: "EMS has not really exported its services before, but we have a strong client base in the UK and felt the time was right to expand into the overseas market.
"Each of these countries are looking to expand their tourism industries and our services can help them achieve that expansion without putting the environment - the very thing that often attracts the tourists - at risk."
