WORKERS at a doomed North-East cigarette factory believe more than one saboteur could be at work after toilets were vandalised.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that an employee at the Rothmans plant, in Darlington, had been disciplined after he damaged cigarette packets deliberately.
Factory owner British American Tobacco said last night that there had also been an incident in which toilets were damaged, but did not want to comment further.
A worker, who did not want to be named, said: "There was a bit of flooding because someone had gone into the men's toilets and kicked the U-bends off the urinals.
"It was deliberate, but I don't think it was the same person who damaged the cigarette packets - because he admitted that, and he didn't admit this."
After the cigarette sabotage incident, a large number of packets had to be checked for damage.
Earlier this year, The Northern Echo revealed the factory was to close with the loss of almost 500 jobs. It is not known if the closure is the reason for the sabotage.
