A COMMUNITY'S annual August Bank Holiday get-together comes to a conclusion today.
The 12th Haswells Do has featured a range of events for all the family in the neighbouring villages of Haswell and Haswell Plough, between Durham and Easington, over the weekend. Today's activities feature East Durham Ride and Drive Club's annual show, staged at Haswell Mart, from 11am. The Wayfarer pub, in Front Street East, Haswell, stages the last of three Singaround/Playaround musical knees-ups, hosted by John Kelly, from Croxdale, this afternoon, and Brian Colley, from Hartlepool, this evening. There is also an open darts and dominoes handicap event in the Wayfarer, from 8.30pm, while the nearby Oddfellows hosts a pool handicap, at 8pm. PARKING BID: Leadgate Surgery, based in George Ewen House, Watling Street, Leadgate, near Stanley, is applying for planning permission to build a new car park at the back of the building.
NEW KUNG FU: A new kung fu club has opened in Consett. Instructor Phil Cassidy will be giving lessons in Crookhall Community Centre each Wednesday at 6pm and on Fridays in Blackhill Community Centre, at 7pm.
DONOR SESSIONS: Blood donors sessions take place tomorrow, from 3pm to 7pm, in the Methodist Church hall, Station Road, Consett, and on Wednesday, from 3pm to 7pm, in the community hall, Derwent Street, Chopwell, Gateshead.
ACCORDION CLUB: Derwentside Accordion Club meets on Thursday, at 7.45pm, in Castleside Workingmens Club, near Consett, for a concert by the Border Blend Duo, from Brampton. Admission is £1.50. For further details, contact (01207) 506646.
PARK LARKS: The last Lark in the Park for this summer takes place in Allensford Park, near Consett, on Friday, from 11am to 4pm. The event will feature entertainers, giant inflatables and games.

TENNIS OPEN: An open tennis competition for players aged 14 and under takes place in Sherburn Park, Consett, on Thursday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Entry is £2. Players are advised to take a packed lunch.
