ISLAND TRIP: St Joseph's RC Parish is staging a pilgrimage to Holy Island, Northumberland, on Saturday.
MUSIC NIGHT: Dave Black will entertain customers at the Wheatsheaf, Barley Mow, from 8pm on Thursday.
RECOGNITION SERVICE: A service to recognise Roger Brown as a probationary minister will be led by the Reverend Lionel Osborne at 6pm, on Sunday, at Birtley Meth-odist Church.
FLOWER SHOW: Chester-le-Street Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society is holding its Early Show from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday, and between 10.30am and 4pm on Sunday at Dobbies Garden World,Birtley.
NEW EXERCISE: Birtley Gym has started women's boxercise classes from 6pm to 7pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at £2 per session. For more details, call 0191-410 0885.
FOOTBALL FUNDS: The raffle of a signed Newcastle top raised £230 for the Barley Mow football team.
ICON MEMENTO: Pilgrims brought a hand-made icon of St Joseph back from Lourdes to St Joseph's RC Church, where it is to be incorporated into the rear screen.
