TWO blocks of derelict flats that have brought misery to residents are to be demolished.
The properties, in Lascelles Park, Darlington, have become a haven for drug users and arsonists attracting complaints from nearby householders.
Joe Prettyman, chairman of the Lascelles Park residents' association, told a meeting of the committee that it seemed nothing was being done about the flats.
They are Gayles House, Melsonby Crescent; Kirby House, Gilling Crescent and Manfield House, Fenby Avenue.
A man is believed to be living in one of the boarded up blocks which has delayed demolition. A council spokesman said the other two blocks were earmarked to be pulled down next month.
Police said youths gathering at the flats were causing most of the estate's crime problems although none had been caught in the act.
