A ground stability report for a terrace of six houses has been prepared and its recommendations should be a condition of approval, a report to council planners said.
Boreholes have been drilled but do not suggest the site is affected by gypsum dissolution cavities.
Planning officer Jill North recommended members of Harrogate Borough Council's Ripon area planning committee approve the application.
She said a request by Yorkgate Properties to demolish a home and garages at North Lynn, North Road, Ripon, should be approved.
