A FULL programme of walks has been planned under a scheme designed to improve people's health.
Volunteer leaders have been recruited for the Hambleton Strollers in all the district's market towns - Northallerton, Stokesley, Bedale, Easingwold and Thirsk - to take regular guided walks.
The Strollers formed last year as part of the nationwide Walking for Health initiative to get people to take healthy strolls around their home towns and a series of easy routes, all starting at leisure centres and GP surgeries, has now been established.
The group is supported by the district council, North Yorkshire County Council, Age Concern, the Over 50s Forum, PCT and the Countryside Agency.
All walks begin at 10.30am and last less than one hour. Walkers are asked to bring sensible shoes and wet weather clothing.
