THE four-year-old girl who died when she was thrown from a pony was yesterday named as Madeline Eve Jackson.
The youngster, who lived with her family in the Kirkbymoorside area of North Yorkshire, died after her tiny mount was startled by something in the bushes on Sunday morning.
Madeline was taken to hospital in Scarborough and then by helicopter to Leeds General Infirmary where she died on Sunday night.
Yesterday, her family were said to be devastated by her death and did not wish to speak to the media.
An instructor from the Friars Hill Riding Stables, at Sinnington, had been leading the Welsh pony when the accident happened
A spokesman for Ryedale District Council said: "As the enforcing authority for health and safety at the riding establishment involved, we are working in conjunction with North Yorkshire Police to undertake inquiries to compile a joint report for the coroner regarding this incident.
