COUNCILLORS have blocked plans to build a detached home in a village near Fountains Abbey for the second time.
Members of the Ripon area planning committee of Harrogate Borough Council refused to allow the plan.
The scheme would have seen the home built in the Studley Roger village conservation area, near Ripon.
A road through the village leads to the carriageway entrance to the deer park, and Studley Royal Estate, which is part of a World Heritage Site.
Councillors initially turned down the scheme because they felt it was too intensive and out of keeping with the village.
Five councillors voted to refuse the plan and there were two abstentions.
