PLANS for a horse isolation unit for sick and imported animals near a Ripon village would seriously harm an area of outstanding natural beauty, a planning officer has said.
Mike Warden recommended that Harrogate Borough Council turn down the application.
But following more information from the applicants, who own a stud farm, about the proposal on a field opposite Sycamore Farm, Ringbeck, Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon, councillors decided to defer the application until a site visit had been made.
Mr Warden's report said:"I find it hard to believe that the term isolation is being correctly used in this case.
"It seems to me the house and unit will become the centre for a new horse-breeding stud."
