ORGANISERS of a sponsored dog walk hope they have raised more than £4,000 for an animal rescue charity.
Five dogs were also re-homed at the fourth annual dog walk held by the Saltburn Animal Rescue Association (Sara), on Monday, at the Valley Gardens, Saltburn.
Pam Hildreth, from the organisation, said: "It was a very successful day and we're still waiting for more sponsorship money to come in, which will bring the total to more than £4,000."
Dogs that had been rehomed by Sara wore green bows and rescue dogs looking for homes wore red bows.
Money was raised from the £1 registration fee, from sponsorship and also from bric-a-brac and dog-orientated stalls.
The association also raised £212 at a coffee morning at Marske Leisure Centre, £248 from a street collection in Saltburn, £200 at the Saltburn Swashbuckle entertainment weekend, £258 at a tombola at Asda in South Bank and £211 at an RSPCA open day.
* The association will hold its annual pets' blessing service at 4pm on Sunday, September 28, at St Hilda's Church, Mersey Road, Redcar, and not on today as previously stated.
