A STRONGMAN competition to raise money for charity is being staged by four-times Mr Universe Eddie Ellwood.
Mr Ellwood, who is flying out to take part in the World's Strongest Man competition in Zambia next month, is putting on a show before he goes.
The event, for novices, will be staged at Ellwood's Fitness World, in Brenda Road, Hartlepool, on Saturday, September 13.
Last year, seven competitors took part and £500 was raised for charity.
Mr Ellwood, 39, has shaped up for his first attempt at the World's Strongest Man with good performances at events in the Ukraine and at the World Highland Games, coming fourth in both.
In June, he was part of a UK squad of six that took on others from the US, Canada, the Baltics, Europe and a Viking team, in Winnipeg.
The UK team triumphed, and Mr Ellwood was the individual winner after coming first and second in two of his events, and picking up points in all the others.
The World's Strongest Man starts on September 20, and includes 30 competitors split into six heats.
