TWO teenagers are being quizzed by police after a stolen car crashed and burst in flames.
The car careered into traffic lights and bollards in Middlesbrough after failing to stop for police officers, before it caught fire, early yesterday. The stolen Audi was also involved in a collision with a police car.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "At around 3.30am, officers were searching for a car reported stolen from Roman Road, Linthorpe, when they spotted the Audi on Ladgate Lane.
"The vehicle failed to stop for officers and then crashed into traffic lights and bollards at the junction of Marton Road and Broadwell Road, and burst into flames.
"The police car collided with the stolen car. No one was injured in the collision and the two in the car ran off, but were caught by officers.''
Two 17-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle-taking without the owner's consent.
