THIS is the face of the man detectives believe is responsible for the rape of a teenage girl.
The sex attacker struck at about 9pm on Tuesday, July 22, after the teenager travelled by bus from Newcastle to Washington, getting off at Albany Way, opposite the post sorting office.
She was walking through a shortcut to Boston Avenue, Washington village, when a man dragged her into bushes and raped her.
He is believed to have left the scene in a dark red car.
The man is about 40, with blond hair, possibly with dyed brown streaks. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, blue jeans, a green cagoule and brown shoes.
After speaking to the victim, officers have released this sketch of the attacker's face.
Anyone who recognises him is asked to call Washington CID on 0191-454 7555, ext 66444
