EXPORTERS in the North-East are among the best in the country when it comes to generating overseas sales growth.
According to the Business in Britain Report, by Lloyds TSB Corporate, 48 per cent of North-East firms have reported an increase in overseas sales - up from 23 per cent six months ago - one of the highest figures in the country.
That was despite UK exporters as a whole reportedly losing their grip on sales growth during the past six months, and failing to capitalise on the most competitive exchange rate UK industry has seen in more than five years.
Roger Armston, regional international business manager for Lloyds TSB Corporate in the North-East, said: "The continued uncertainty about euro entry and speculation over the likelihood of economic recovery within the eurozone has led to a testing six months for UK exporters.
"However, North-East firms are going against national trends and proving to be the most successful in the country when it comes to exporting to European countries."
