SCARBOROUGH will host two royal visitors next month.
The Duke of Edinburgh will unveil a plaque in memory of motorcycle world champion Barry Sheene at the resort's Oliver's Mount circuit on September 21.
Prince Philip will be visiting the seaside resort in his role as patron of the Auto Cycle Union which is holding its centenary celebrations.
On October 17, The Duke of York will be in the town to open the £8m headquarters of the Scarborough Building Society and an extension at Scarborough Town Hall.
Earlier this year, the council wrote to North Yorkshire's Lord Lieutenant, Lord Crathorne, asking if it would be possible for Princess Beatrice, Prince Andrew's daughter, to open the extension because Queen Victoria's daughter Princess Beatrice of Battenburg opened the town hall a century ago this year.
Buckingham Palace said the teenage princess was too young and her father would attend instead
