A SPECIAL care baby unit is to receive a cheque for more than £10,000 thanks to North-East pedal power.
About 170 cyclists took part in a charity ride through the North Yorkshire countryside in May, raising money for the neo-natal unit at the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
Their efforts have led to a total of £10,548 being invested in equipment to care for premature babies.
The money will be given to hospital staff at a presentation night at the Dog and Gun pub, in Potto, North Yorkshire, next Friday.
The unit deals with about 380 admissions each year from around the region.
