WEDDING dresses dating back to the Thirties are going on display this weekend at St Aidan's Church, Boosbeck. There will be 20 dresses on show.

Audrey Norris, who has organised the exhibition, said: "The oldest dates back to the Thirties. It's a beautiful, very slim dress, with a full range of dresses from other eras, the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies, right up to the present day. One was worn just a few weeks ago at a wedding in York.

"One of the dresses is very interesting; it was worn at Rushpool Hall at a winter wedding and it's made from navy blue velvet - it's very unusual."

The event, held as part of St Aidan's week celebrations, is open from today to Sunday, 10am-4pm today and tomorrow and 2.30-5.30 on Sunday.

They conclude with a songs of praise at 6pm on Sunday in church. Refreshments will be served during the exhibition. Admission is free, but there will be donation boxes and a raffle to raise money for church funds
