THE first phase of Darlington's new kerbside recycling scheme gets underway next week.
Around 14,000 residents in various parts of the borough, including Merrybent, Piercebridge and High and Low Coniscliffe, have already received their large green plastic recycling boxes.
They will be used to collect glass, cans, textiles and clear plastics, white paper, junk mail and magazines will be collected in plastic bags put out at the same time.
Homes in the second and third phases of the Time to Recycle project will receive their boxes in early September and early October, respectively.
Anyone planning to be away during those times can contact the council on 01325 38877 to make alternative box delivery arrangements.
