A RECENTLY retired district judge has died at the age of 67.
Alan Elliott was a solicitor in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, with Birdsall and Snowball for many years before becoming Registrar of the County Court covering Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby and York.
He officially retired on August 12 but had been ill since May.
Mr Elliott was a prominent member of Scarborough Rugby Club, being a former team captain and playing more than 500 games for the first team.
He subsequently became chairman and president.
He was also captain of Forge Valley Cricket Club for a number of years and a trustee of Westborough Methodist Church, where a service of thanksgiving will be held on Monday.
Mr Elliott leaves a widow, Pamela, and three children.
