RESIDENTS are continuing to demand action from their local council over a North-East street being mistakenly used by articulated lorries.
The Northern Echo reported earlier this week about the traffic problems affecting residents in the Haughton area of Darlington.
They were concerned that road signs were misleading truck drivers into travelling down Lodge Street as they tried to find Chesnut Street lorry and car park.
However, drivers turning into Lodge Street are finding that it is a dead end - and then facing a major struggle to reverse out.
Resident Bill Duckmanton added his voice to the demands for Darlington Borough Council to step in and provide a residents' parking system and better signs.
He urged the authority: "Don't just consider a residents' parking scheme, put one in place now so the residents of Lodge Street and Russell Street can have the same peace afforded to other areas of Darlington."
The problem has been brought to the attention of the council's highways officials and a parking scheme is under consideration.
