POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist sustained serious injuries in an accident.
The 50-year-old cyclist, from Billingham, suffered a broken leg and pelvis in a collision with a BMW car in Bishopton Avenue, Stockton.
A police spokesman said the car was travelling south along Bishopton Avenue, from the direction of Hartburn, at 5am yesterday.
He said: "As it went through the lights with Bishopton Road West, for some reason the driver lost control.
"The car went on to the wrong side of the road, collided with the pedal cycle, swerved back to its right side of the road, hit the kerb at an angle and flipped over on to its roof.''
The driver of the car escaped uninjured.
The police accident investigation unit is appealing for witnesses to contact them on (01642) 301558
