TWO cyclists from Hambleton are preparing for a 500-mile charity ride.
Richard Greaves and John Roberts set off on their sponsored bike ride tomorrow, pedalling from Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower, in Paris, in seven days.
Twenty other cyclists from across the country will also be taking part in the gruelling ride, and all expect to arrive in Paris mid-afternoon next Saturday.
Mr Roberts, an employee of The Yorkshire Building Society, in Northallerton, was signed up for the event earlier this year. He persuaded neighbour Mr Greaves, who farms at Bank House, in Brompton, to join him.
The men are raising cash for The National Kidney Research Fund.
Mr Roberts said: "I am indebted to all who have supported me, particularly The Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Trust, who have pledged £1,000 if I complete the ride."
Both men have trained hard for the event. To pledge support, call (01609) 779465
